Important facts about painting your home

Painting is a very important procedure when you are dealing with an investment as big as the one for a home. The damage that can result from paint deterioration can be a big problem. Paint is the barrier that keeps the elements from eating away at the materials that make up your home. This coating fills the pores of the walls against moisture, thus inhibiting water damage. When it is properly intact, it provides exceptional protection. However, once the paint deteriorates a little, your home becomes exposed to the elements.

Once water infiltrates, it is extremely easy for mold and mildew to begin to grow. I highly suggest making sure to keep an eye on the integrity of your paint is if you own your home. The process is costly, but the return is priceless. Nothing worth having is cheap or easy.

I also advised that you repair/have repaired any moisture damaged areas before painting over them. The area will continue to rot once it has been absorbed moisture, new paint or not. In addition, the paint will not bond properly to these areas, and will cause you to have to have another coat in the near future. This can get expensive.

Another important reason to put a new coat on is the added beauty. You can always tell when something has been painted recently, and if it was done well, the impression it leaves is sharp and clean. That being said, having aged and broken paint takes away from the curb appeal of your house. It presents a careless impression, and can take away from the value of your home. Even though your paint needs attention, this is not something that you have to do every year. Most paints will last for 5-15 years before they need another application.

Is duplicate content normal? What do you do if some one is copying your ideas?

I started out as a painter back when they still where putting linseed oil in exterior paint. It was a great product, protected exterior surfaces and made them look sharp and clean as stated above. The biggest problem with it was drying time vs bugs. Do you spray exteriors or hand brush?

That depends on the material that the home's exterior is made of. I spray anything that has a lot of texture, but am willing to roll and cut it if the surface will allow for it. Thanks for you input
